Teach English From Home Without a Degree
Teaching English from home has become a really popular remote job, especially for stay-at-home moms. And there is no shortage of online teaching platforms like VIPKid and DaDaABC.
The problem is, most of the companies that hire remote ESL teachers and tutors require you to have a college degree. Granted, your degree can be in pretty much any field, but they still require a degree all the same. But, what if you want to teach English online, but don’t have a college degree? Well, you’re in luck because there are a few companies around that will hire remote English teachers and tutors without a degree.
These jobs are also in high demand because they’re great if you’re just looking for a part-time job, or if you’re looking for a side gig.
Please note that these positions are independent contractor jobs and not employee positions, so there are no benefits offered. However, they all allow you to work your own hours.
Requirements for Teaching English Online
You’ll need to have a computer or laptop with high-speed internet service. You won’t necessarily need hard-wired internet, but you’ll have to have a stable connection with fast upload and download speeds.
You must also have a webcam and VoIP software like Skype, Facetime, or Google Hangouts.
To be eligible to work with some of these companies, you’ll need to have a certificate such as a TESOL or TEFL. All you need to do in order to get certified is to take a 120-hour class, which can be done online. Just make sure it’s a legitimate certification class and that it’s at least 120 hours. Anything less than 120 hours may not be recognized.
You can find information on becoming certified and other helpful information at Teach Away, which is a global recruitment agency for teachers.
