What Does a Reservation Specialist Do?

As a remote reservation specialist with HotelPlanner, you’ll serve as the primary point of contact between customers and hotels.

You’ll be responsible for handling a large number of incoming calls from customers who are interested in booking a room or making a reservation. When a customer confirms they want to make a reservation, you’ll secure the room for them and give them a confirmation.

You will also need to keep up-to-date with the latest hotel deals and promotions to ensure customers get the best value for their money.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need to Become a Remote Reservation Specialist?

To become a remote reservation specialist with HotelPlanner, you should have excellent customer service skills, the ability to think quickly on your feet, and basic computer skills.

You should also have good organizational and multitasking skills. You must be comfortable working independently and be able to handle different tasks at once. You should also be able to type quickly and accurately.

Sales skills are a bonus since the ultimate goal is to turn incoming calls into confirmed bookings.

What Are the Computer and Technical Requirements?

You’ll need access to a reliable computer and an internet connection (preferably hard-wired). You’ll also need a noise-canceling headset and a Google Chrome browser.

Pay and Benefits

The pay for a remote reservation specialist with HotelPlanner is commission only. Whenever you accept a call from a customer that results in a booking, you’ll earn a commission.

With your commissions, you can typically expect to earn anywhere between $10 and $30 per hour, depending on your sales and the call demand. However, because the role is commission-based, the more calls you are able to book, the more money you’ll make.

HotelPlanner pays reservation agents twice monthly via direct deposit or check, whichever you choose.

Reservation specialists are independent contractors. Therefore no employee benefits are offered.

The company offers training on how to use their reservation software and how to help customers book their hotel stays.

Once you’ve completed your training, you’ll be able to start taking calls from customers and making reservations as a remote reservation specialist.
